1785 - James Gettys laid out 210 lots on 116 acres he bought; he called it GETTYSBURG.
1795 - Alexander Irvine, a merchant, bought Lot # 81 for 3 pounds, 15 shillings (about $ 10.00).
1807 - Walter Smith, a merchant and the fourth Adams County Commissioner, now owning Lot # 81, built a two-story, brick, Federal style 'mansion'- fronting the "Diamond" (now Lincoln Square). Part of this building foundation still exists.
1868 - The Smith heirs sold the property to the Gettysburg Methodist Church.
1870 - William Boyer bought Lot # 81; it housed a grocery store, Tipton's photographic studio and Faber's cigar store.
1885 - Amos Eckert bought this property for $ 9,500. He rebuilt as a residence and as a shoe and men's clothing business.
1909 - A major renovation and addition was built for The Gettysburg Times.
1929 - Additional space was added to house the Home Furnishings Company.
1946 - J. Herbert Raymond purchased the property to operate Raymond's Furniture Store.
1973 - The Olympian Corporation bought Lot # 81 (17 Lincoln Square). It was rented for offices and other businesses.
2001 - Purchased by 17 Lincoln Square Collections Partnership/Hauser Family, the building has been renovated into ANTIQUES, APPLES and ART.
